Sardinia has for years been a strange and idiosyncratic place making wine as they wanted with little relation to other parts of Italy. The influence was if anything Spanish, and justly so because historically Spanish conquistadores introduced many of the grape varieties now present.
Most well known is Cannonau - Sardinian for Granacha or Grenache. As in Spain and France this is a grape with great potential and some wonderful versions are being produced. Other red grapes are Carignano and Monica, also Spanish.
Vermintino is the main white wine, and is a pleasure and a revalation to those that have never tried it.
Come and join us to taste some of the best that they produce. We will be tasting wines from the estates of Sella & Mosca, Argiolas and Dettori amongst others . These are some of the great producers that have put Sardinia on the serious wine map today.
Doors open at 18:30 and you'll be welcomed with an aperitivo, then the tasting will start promptly at 19:00 and Paul will run us through the various wines that we'll be tasting that evening. Typical Sardinian snacks will be served.
