What do the Casino Royale and the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti have in common, apart from being two important realities of the Italian underground music? The iconic Barfly on Chalk Farm Road and an interesting parenthesis in the very crowded music calendar of the British capital: the Italian Job Music Festival.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Italian company Virus Concerti and Barfly, the Casino Royale and the TARM were the main acts of the minifestival which attracted both the Italian and non-Italian audience for two evenings – 4th and 5th October – characterised by that Italian music less known on this other side of the Alps but which deserves more visibility, by that vivid and swarming scene away from the pop-melodic cliché.

On stage after 9 years of absence from the live-music dimension, the Casino Royale had to contend for the audience of an extremely fervid London and of a sold-out concert by Manu Chao in Brixton; but the intimate atmosphere transmitted positive vibes to all the present and allowed a more direct contact with the band. Running through the stages of their long career with the same enthusiasm of the beginning, they marked with this evening their return to London, while for the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti was the absolute debut in Great Britain. Thanks to a younger audience more inclined to transfers, the TARM attired many fans with their “singer-songwriter rock”: hidden behind skull masks as usual, their trade mark, they have concentrated in the short evening a good deal of their repertoire, not without some complaints from the audience who would have liked to keep them on stage longer.

GIORGIOSTUDIO collected the comments and sensations of the Casino Royale and the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti on the spur of the moment: to watch the video of the event with the interview to the protagonists of the Italian Job Music Festival, be tuned on www.giorgiostudio.co.uk/eng/videos/index.htm.

We look forward to the next stroke: news is coming soon for a great deal of great Italian music as 2008 will be the year of the Italian music in London!
