On Monday 16th April the Cargo, one of the most vivid live music scenes in London, hosted Gege’ Telesforo and his Groovinators on the occasion of the presentation of their new album, “Love and Other Contradictions”.

Atmosphere mainly Italian, intimate and enthralling, the eclectic Gege’ – how not to recall his previous TV experiences with Renzo Arbore’s band in “Quelli della Notte” and “Indietro Tutta” first, and in quality music programmes such as “D.O.C.” later, as well as his commitments as a radio presenter, singer and musician – entertained the public with a wide repertoire. Jazz winks at Soul thanks to the warm voice of the vocalist Mia Cooper, at Funk and of course at the Groove woven by the band – The Groovinators, indeed. Our singer also ventured on the street sounds, using his mouth and breath as a proper instrument, reminding the American rappers’ rhythms among the applause and enthusiasm of the audience that danced for the whole evening. A big party, in other words, with musicians that first of all enjoyed themselves on stage and transmitted this wave of energy to their listeners, carried away by the virtuosity of these artists and by the positive vibes of the show.
Fusion of genres, improvisation and innovation, then, but also a leap into the past for the nostalgic people with the gag-presentation by Andy Luotto, cabaret artist self-reinvented as a chef – one of the best in Italy – and formerly at Gege’s side in the time of the TV success, and his stooge in the interview realised by GIORGIOSTUDIO for the occasion.

After the success of the London launch, the new album “Love and Other Contradictions” has already been published in Germany, Japan and Italy, and on 6th July will take our Gege’ and The Groovinators once more on the stage of the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, to inaugurate the 2007 edition’s midnight concerts.
