Cristina Scabbia.

By Lorenzo De Gregori

It is incredible the success that this Italian band is having, almost unknown at home yet, whilst they are filling auditoriums all around the world. They are currently on a world tour that will bring them all the way to the States and Mexico.
Since we have arrived to the venue, this Lacuna Coil's gig has been a surprise: the concert hall of the King’s College, though an anomalous site for a metal band, is just the perfect size. We were not afraid of being too far and not seeing them well, as it was not possible to be too far! It would have been a shame not to be able to admire the splendid Cristina Scabbia, officially declared the most beautiful (and more…) woman of the gothic set; besides, she really got a terrific voice which delighted us from the very beginning with an unplugged version of Heaven's a Lie. Yes, the other surprise of this gig was that it started with an acoustic set; the guys introduced themselves – making everybody laugh out – this way: “Good evening, we are the support band, our name is Lacuna Coil”.
Playing unplugged is a new reality for them, something they stumbled upon almost suddenly, because the songs were to be recorded by a radio station. But, as the other vocalist Andrea Ferro has confirmed, they are having fun with it!

After the unplugged session – and after the true support band, Poisonblack – they came back with Fragile from their last album “Karmacode”, one of the most awaited albums in 2006.
Fans are rocketing to the sky, singing and jumping at the rhythm of this six-element band from Milan, following the hypnotic voices on stage, with the Lacuna playing – in this international London –even an Italian track, Senzafine, and a cover, Enjoy the silence, as a homage to one of the groups they take inspiration from: Depeche Mode. Terrific!
The only thing we can regret about is that, including the unplugged and the real gig, we could listen to them only for one and a half hour of wonderful music: having the chance, we would have loved to stay there all night long, but we are pretty sure that we will see them around again. Keep tuned…
