VIVA ITALIA SHOW

As the name itself suggests, the event held at the Olympia London from 22nd to 24th of September 2006 was entirely dedicated to Italy and to the products that feed its fame. And it was exactly the oenogastronomic sector to rule the roost at Viva Italia Show, for both the quantity of the stands and the variety and quality of the products. A bit below the par, instead, was fashion, which perhaps suffered the most for the absence – amongst the very many visitors – of professionals and industry operators. The catwalks were too slow and without verve – and the stage was more adequate to kid walkways, present indeed – that risked catching the spectator’s attention more on the tags appearing from the clothes of the unfortunate pseudo-model on duty than on the clothes themselves.
Noteworthy and particularly interesting, on the stage, was the performance of the duo Maurizio Pio Rocchi, painter, and Alessandra Ragonesi, dancer, that combined performing and visual arts in an ensemble of folk music, dancing and painting.

A common factor among the present exhibitors was the search for agents and importers, perhaps a sign that Italy is more and more launched towards the exportation, and the United Kingdom seems to represent the favourite landing place.
The spaces was probably not prepared in the best way (it hardly looked like the same location that hosted Pure Exhibition just a few months before), but considering that the Show was at its second edition only, some oversights is still admissible.

All in all it was a pleasant fair, which attracted not only Italians. On the other hand, who would not be tempted by a sip of good red wine, even better with a slice of Sienese lard?
